TLDR : Answer Summary
A user has had their visa approved by the UK embassy and is unsure if they should book their flight immediately or wait for further developments. Commenters discuss the uncertainty of upcoming travel rules, and some advise checking with airlines about flight credits if plans change. Others suggest that since the visa has a validity period, it might be wise to wait for further information on potential travel restrictions due to COVID-19 before making a booking.

They need to stop covid insurance for fully vaccinated people. People are not going to play games. Other countries are going to take tourist without the games

Dennis Phelps Insurance is nothing in the scheme of things, travel insurance could easily cover Covid. They need to stop quarantine for fully vaxxed people.

Billy Brown Whats a good vaccine? Just my dad had the AZ one and ended up in hospital with blood clots twice. Is this a "good one to have"?

Billy Brown I don't wear masks and had covid 6 weeks ago. I needed a test to tell me that I had it as I had absolutely no symptoms. Same as my wife and daughter. I don't personally know anyone who has had any problems. Just positive tests and having to isolate.

I know several people who have had it; including one who died, and two in hospital. Also youngsters who have had it quite badly, having breathing problems. I don't know anyone who's had anything more than a headache having had the vaccine. On an individual level, none of us know enough people for statistical significance, but country and global data shows the true picture and the huge benefit from vaccination.

I live in Thailand a long time and have seen so many people getting hurt badly without health cover. They end up running fund me pages or leaves the country owing the hospital money. I think it is your responsibility not to be a drain on the Thai health system and should have cover Covid or not.

It's not so much health insurance. Travel insurance should cover covid. Yes I agree, long term stayers should have health insurance. Tourists should only need travel insurance. They're 2 totally different animals.

I don't know how it's possible because you have to pay before or put deposit that cover all costs.

not at state hospitals and in emergencies. Many youngsters come here, rent a scooter and drive without a helmet. Next thing they are involved in an accident and ends up in hospital. Most do not have health cover and the Thais end up paying. The last figure I saw was around B 8 billion a year (pre covid). Many times in the past the Thai government tried to introduce health cover for tourist but never did.

You've got 90 days to use the visa, I'd hold fire and see what happens over the next month.

Ask your airline before booking if you can get credit if you don’t fly. Then it’s a non issue unless airline goes out of business or you don’t use a major carrier. That’s as sure a bet as you can getZ

Rules are set to change on the 1st of October. However no one knows yet what they may be. We’ll just have to wait and see.
