TLDR : Answer Summary
Yes, there is an immigration office in Khon Kaen where you can apply for a 30-day tourist visa extension. It is located inside the Police training center and may not be easily visible from the main road. Make sure to fill out the necessary forms, such as the TM30 form, and prepare the required fees and documentation. It is advisable to ensure your accommodation is registered with the immigration office to avoid penalties.

They don't ask for it in Bangkok
But they might there.
I went straight there from udon and told them i had booked a hotel on line and was going there when i leave this office.
They was fine with that.
As i was a tourist on tour of Thailand and was visiting 13 city's.
I'm only stay one night here and tomorrow I'm going to Roiet to see the tallest buddha in Thailand it stands at 52 meters tall.
With that i got a big smile and a stamp in my passport for 30 day's

I will just be a guest. I might need an operation and she will look after me in her home so I won't be paying rent. I have only ever extended in Samui. Would this be easier to do in Bkk or do you know if the same criteria would apply regarding the hotel?

Ask the person you pay the rent to

Ask them if they told the immigration office that your there.
. Thanks a lot. Your comment about the friendly staff obviously means they are wonderful. Is it still just a case of filling out a form, a photo and 1900bt
