TLDR : Answer Summary
Yes, there are visa options that allow a stay of up to 6 months in Thailand. A Multiple Entry Tourist Visa (METV) is one such option, which is valid for 6 months and allows visitors to enter Thailand multiple times, with each entry giving a stay of 60 days, extendable by 30 days at an immigration office. However, for those seeking a more stable long-term solution, the Thai Digital Nomad Visa (DTV) permits longer stays but comes with more stringent requirements. It's important to consult relevant authorities for further clarity on eligibility and rules.

Country of your passport? Talk the the Embassy. They are very helpful.

Anthony van der Craats the country of passport makes no difference as far as various visas. It only makes a difference for whether one qualifies for visa exempt entry, which won't give the OP what they want regardless of nationality. The OP is asking a question that many people in this group know enough to answer. There's no point telling someone to ask the embassy, as that would make the group completely useless since you could give that same reply for all visa and entry related questions. Since this is a visa advice group, the OP is obviously seeking advice from knowledgeable group members, not just to be told to ask the embassy.

Anthony van der Craats explain yourself instead of just making an assertion. How does his nationality affect what visa he might get? Visas are available to all nationalities and have the same validity period and stay length regardless of nationality. Are you confusing visa exempt entries with visas, which are 2 different things?

Ted P E Tilden Jr. it’s a 5 year Visa. Not 6 months. You get a 6 month stamp every time you enter. It can be extended once each year or you can just leave country and come back for another 6 months. It is not a 6 month visa

well. Yes. And yes. The very limited original post doesn’t give too much info what he’s actually asking.

I think he’s asking for ‘what visa he can get, to allow him to stay in Thailand, non-stop, for 6months.

I believe the answer would be DTV

Stef JB right - but the criteria for a DTV is obviously much tougher than an METV. So you need to be a little clearer for him I think

A Multiple Entry Tourist Visa is valid for 6 months. You get stamped in for 60 days every time you enter while it remains valid, and every entry can be extended by 30 days at an immigration office inside Thailand

I get 90 day stay per visit, (Limit is two stays per calendar year it resets on Jan 1). Most countries get 69 days stays. I hold an ABTC APEC Card) The DTV might be your best option. Really depends on what and when you plan to stay. Talk to the Thai Embassy in your county.

Yes we got 30 days for second extension but many others got only 7 days…so depend of the immigration agent 🤷‍♀️

But next year, will take OA visa, too stressful not knowing how many days you will be granted…

Robert Merrell Visa exempt but a man did a post about having only 7 days extension with MTV and last extension was last march…

They say for MTV you are alowed 2 extensions by year (from date to date). First 30 days and second 7 days. New rules…

Yes but now the second extension is only 7 days! So that means, you get 60 days + 30 days extension, then go out, get stamped again 60 days and after you get only 7 days…So if you want to stay 6 months, you have to get out 2 times or stay for 3 weeks in another country 🤷‍♀️

Jacinthe Lavoie there is no 3 week rule, each entry is at the discretion of the Immigration Officer

I know I can stay for 60 days and extend my stay for an extra 30 days by going to the immigration office. I booked my ticket for three months. I know you can’t just leave the country and come back like you used to be able to. They’ve cracked down on it.

I’m wondering if there’s a Visa where I can stay for a solid six months and be a full snowbird

You can with the appropriate visa. The problems are with those using visa exempt entries

Ted P E Tilden Jr. you could leave the country and come back 70 times on a multi entry tourist visa. In the six month period the visa is valid.

Ted P E Tilden Jr. DTV is a 5 year visa and can stay for 1 year each time. Multi entry tourist visa you can get 9 months from but do have to do a border run after 90 days
