Hey folks! For those who don't fit the criteria for DTV but want to stay a few months, is there an option for 6-month tourist visa? I've heard of this and it feels like an urban legend because I'm not sure I know anyone who has actually gotten it (maybe I don't know anyone who has applied for it). If yes, which countries can successfully get a 6-month tourist visa? Thanks!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The conversation discusses the availability of a 6-month tourist visa for Thailand, known as the Multi-Entry Tourist Visa (METV). It confirms that this visa exists but is not commonly sought, as it allows only 60-day stays per entry, similar to visa exemptions for many countries. The visa must be obtained at a Thai consulate in the applicant's home country or a country where they have legal permanent residency. This visa option can provide up to 9 months of stay by utilizing multiple entries.
It's not a very popular visa right now because it only gives you 60 days per entry, the same time you get with the visa excemption for most countries currently.
BUT it will let you get almost 9 months of stay without being hassled by immigrations rather than bouncing out and back to milk free stamp entries and run the risk of denial of entry after one or two ๐

There is indeed a 6 month METV <- multi-entry tourist visa (and you can get almost 9 months of stay out of it in 60 day increments ๐ฎ )
BUT
you get it at the thai consulate in YOUR country before you come here (or a country that you can prove you have legal permanent residence in) <- meaning you can't go anywhere in S/E Asia and get that visa from a thai consulate nearby ๐
This is the choice you want on the eVisa online system when you select the Tourist visa
