Is it safe to apply for DTV soft power visa while in Vietnam with a tight timeline before returning to Canada?

I’m in HCMC (Vietnam) for 10 days, then I’m flying back to Canada. Is it safe to apply for DTV soft power or is that too tight? If I start application in Vietnam with e-visa, can I do the follow up and send extra documents if needed from my home country? Or application gets automatically rejected? Thanks

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is planning to be in HCMC for 10 days before returning to Canada and is inquiring about the safety and feasibility of starting a DTV soft power visa application during their stay. They wonder if they can begin the application process with an e-visa and if they can send additional documents from Canada, or if this would lead to an automatic rejection. Comments suggest starting the application online now, as the approval process in HCMC typically takes about 5 business days, but can reset if additional documents are requested.

When they ask you for your passport pages when you're back in your home country you might have a problem, then the visa might be rejected.

Why not apply in your home country when you are back?

just because VN seems to be the fastest and easiest way to get the DTV, and also in Canada its 650$.

In your case I would not gamble just to pay less fee for the visa.

When it is rejected because you are back in your home country it is just extra money you paid.

get the application started online NOW and save it in your profile,

then the second you hit the ground in Vietnam, upload the visa/entry stamp and hotel where you're staying and then apply, pay.

I applied in the evening on 6 Nov, and was approved 12 Nov. Requested on 8th to supply additional docs. That's technically 4 working business days if you exclude the weekend.

May I ask what kind of the additional docs did they ask for?

@Max ****
they asked for 6 months of bank statements. And the current location proof/entry stamp.

do you need to show a minimum balance of 500k baht on each of the statements?

Anonymous participant Final balance of 500K is ok with Vietnam

HCMC takes 5 business days to approve providing you submit all that is required. If they ask for more documents to be submitted, the 5 days is reset when they receive them. 10 days should be enough.
