TLDR : Answer Summary
For holders of a NON-O visa based on marriage to a Thai national, it is acceptable for the bank account to drop below the required 400,000 THB for a short period. The main requirement is to maintain the 400,000 THB balance for at least 2 months prior to the extension application. Once the extension is granted, there are no requirements for maintaining this balance until 2 months before the next extension.

For a non-O you're only required to have the account at 400,000 for the 2 months before you apply for the extension. Once you receive the extension there's no requirement for there to be any money in your bank account until 2 months before next year's extension.
