How does the 90-day reporting work with a NON-O marriage visa extension in Thailand?

After attempting an online 90 day report on a non-o based on marriage visa extension and failing, went to report yesterday at Chaeng Watthana.

Made the mistake of thinking the 90 days started from my visa extension stamp date not the date I entered Thailand so was about 75 days overdue and hit with a 2000 baht fine (staff where really friendly I might add and told me that the online report should work next time if I do it at the correct time, I thought I might get some grief but no problems at all)

No mention of the TM.30 though.

So just a reminder that doing an extension doesn't necessarily reset the 90 day clock...

Not sure if helpful to anyone or not but thought i'd post my experience.. ๐Ÿ‘

TLDR : Answer Summary
The author shares their experience of miscalculating the 90-day reporting requirement associated with their NON-O marriage visa extension in Thailand, mistaking the start date for the reporting period based on their extension date instead of their entry to Thailand. They incurred a 2000 baht fine but were treated kindly at the Chaeng Watthana immigration office. The post highlights that getting a yearly extension does not reset the 90-day clock unless a new 90-day receipt is issued. Other comments emphasize the confusion around the reporting rules and the importance of understanding the system.

I wish I read this post earlier it could have saved me 2000 baht anyway they did stamp something on my passport stating the 2000 baht and the offence is not doing my 90 day report I guess what happens next or in future is it a really big deal to have such a stamp on the passport?

In my experience, no, there's no big deal about having that stamp on your passport.

Yup I think that was why I was confused.

When I did my first year extension last year i'm pretty sure I got a 90 day receipt stating the next due date and so this year when I extended I just assumed it would be the same and reset my 90 days.

Although, as you mentioned, this year when I did my extension they didn't give me this receipt hence the 75 days overdue...

Oh well, live and learn ;) it wont happen again!

I get a fresh bit of paper stapled into my passport every time. Also on my last 90 day report prior to renewing my extension they made the next report date the same as my extension expiry date. All very easy to follow. I use aranyaprathet immigration.

Yeah thats the one, i've got my head around it now but can be a tad confusing... Oh well, i'm 2000 baht lighter but hopefully this might save someone else making the same mistake ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ‘

ahhh, when you get your very FIRST yearly extension off a Non-O visa they put a paper in your passport telling you when your first 90 day report is due

It looks like this.

After that you're on your own, and the only thing that re-starts the 90 day count down is exiting/re-entering the country..

Yep, getting a yearly extension has NOTHING to do with when your 90 day report is due :O

However, here's a good way to know IF you "reset" the 90 day count down clock when you got your yearly extension of stay;

IF when you get your yearly extension you get a NEW 90 day report receipt stating your next due date you DID get your 90 days reset

IF when you get your yearly extension you DON'T get a new 90 day report receipt stating your next due date you DID NOT get your 90 day reset..
