TLDR : Answer Summary
When applying for an OA visa in Thailand, you need to provide health insurance documentation as required in questions 6 and 7 of the application form. Question 6 asks for health insurance issued by either a Thai or foreign insurer, while question 7 requires a Foreign Insurance Certificate (FIC). It’s essential to have health insurance from a Thai approved provider, which will issue the necessary paperwork, including the FIC. Some users recommend finding a local agent to facilitate the process and gather the required documents.

hello, just had it.myself 6 weeks ago.

You need to have a healthinsurance in thailand. If you have found one, you must pay them first. After that you get all the official documents AND a special certificate (question 7) that you are a foreigner with a thai insurance covering all the requested coverage from the government.

I used AA insurance broker in Hua Hin... they do all for you. They have many insurances, give you free advice and they are quick.

After you gave your pers. info...within a very short time you have all you need

If you want health insurance anyway, it probably doesn't hurt to go with the OA visa (although health insurance in Thailand can be very expensive). If not, consider an O visa, which is basically the same but with no mandatory health insurance requirement

If you are appying outside of Thailand you are on an "OA" and therefore require health insurance from one of the listed approved providers.

John Villinger it does not need to be a Non-OA visa. You can start the retirement in Thailand on a Non-Imm-O visa applied for and issued outside of Thailand

John Villinger but they don't need a Non-OA if they are outside Thailand, it's just an option

John Villinger you can apply for the 90-days Non-Imm-O Retirement Visa from anywhere in the World as long as you are physically in this country and there is a Thai embassy

You need international insurance through agents from Thailand.

Then they sign a document for you that you attach to the application

John Villinger No.

The difference between Non-O and the Non-OA is that Non-O gives you a one time 90 day stamp. Can be applied for inside and outside of Thailand.

The Non-OA is a multiple entry visa that is valid for a year, and stamps you for 1 year at a time. Can only be applied for in your current country of permanent residence.

You should have the insurance in place when you apply. 7 can be ignored if you're getting the insurance from a Thai company
