How will Tet holiday affect my DTV visa application process in Vietnam?
I'm flying to Vietnam to get a DTV visa at the end of the month. It turns out there's a holiday there and the embassy is closed. How much will this affect the online visa issuance?
Answer summary
The Tet holiday in Vietnam will significantly affect the processing time for DTV visa applications. Many businesses, including those associated with the Thai embassy, will be closed from January 25 to February 2, leading to an estimated delay of at least 5 additional business days in processing your visa.

Nothing gets done during TET in Vietnam. You might want to reschedule ... Thai embassy will be open but none of the vn govt or businesses that the Thai embassy uses will be open until the 1rst of February.

So you didn't know this? First time here and you need a 5 year visa?

A pretty significant holiday. Takes 10 business days. Holidays and weekends don’t count

The embassies normally quote processing time in working days, holidays and weekends are not working days

Tet is the biggest holiday in VN, most places shut down for a week to allow family reunions. So processing time will probably be 5 extra business days longer

It is Tet ie Lunar New Year. Everyone travels home and much is closed. I would add on at least 5 working days to processing if not more.

It’s the embassy that process the evisa so they won’t treat it during holiday
