As a real digital nomad I don't have a "home address" anymore because I've left my home country. Currently I'm in Thailand on a tourist visa I've applied for from my home country before I came here and now plan to travel to Kuala Lumpur to apply for the DTV. So in the application for the DTV I'd use KUL as current address and Thailand as "permanent address"? Could this be a problem? My reasoning is that "home address Thailand" would probably sound like a resident which is probably not correct on a tourist visa. Would that lead to rejection? Any other suggestions what's the correct thing to do in this situation? What do other digital nomads do?
Answer summary
A digital nomad in Thailand on a tourist visa is confused about how to list their addresses on the DTV application. It's advised against using a Thai address as that may imply residency, which is not acceptable for a tourist. Instead, they should provide a current address reflecting where they are physically staying (e.g., in Kuala Lumpur for the visa application) and a permanent address in their home country, preferably belonging to a friend or family member where they still receive correspondence. Many contributors emphasize the importance of maintaining a legitimate address in the home country for official purposes.

What address is on the bank statements you'll be submitting with your application?

That's a clear rejection reason.

DTV is for tourists. You are not a tourist if you have a permanent address in Thailand

Just use literally any address in your home country.

Send me $8 for this advice when you get the visa.

Are you in Thailand now, while your DTV is not yet approved? If so, they will probably reject it. You CANNOT be in Thailand while applying for DTV

Listing Thailand as your permanent address for a DTV application is the worst thing you can do.

Do you have any family or close friends who would be willing to let you list their home as your address?

Of course I have friends. That's not the problem. But is it correct if I am deregistered and then pretend to have an address as a resident again? I don't want to get into problems.

Do not put home address in Thailand they DO NOT want tourist living in Thailand. That’s a certain rejection. As a digital nomad you absolutely have to still pick a country and have a permanent address to save you self a world of grief ….maybe not at first but wait a year or 3 and then it’s going to hirt fighting every bloody system a lot you tax status banking void health insurance while in an emergency room …. You got to get an address and keep it . Just get a cheap condo like 500/m and dont even use it .

Fyi Do NOT put home address in Thailand. It is a criteria they state upon entry of the page that they will reject you on.

Many of us are long term digitally nomadic but is there really no family or friends home in your passport country you get mail to or usually visit when you return at all?

If by default potentially your last address when settled there - Where are your banking statements addressed to in this case?

Sure, I can give them the address from friends in my home country but then it's not a residential address but just a correspondence address. Is this what's intended for?

The DTV is a visa for digital nomads. Digital nomads tend to have an official address. This is the residential and postal address you give your home country bank, the government for your driver's licence, your passport, the tax authority in your home country. It does not matter that you do not live there. Usually people arrange with their parents, a family member or a friend to use their address and to open mail for them that arrives for them. These days the official address is rarely used for physical mail. You tell organisations to email you, but you still need to provide a physical home address for a lot of organisations. Remember the home address should determine your country of tax residency.

Ok anyone feel free to correct but -

for home base, choose the place that is last government or officially linked to your official documents. Bills, letters, Tax, banking correspondence. When people contact you in your home country, what address do they currently send stuff to. I say this because If they ask for other official documents like your bank statements they may cross check where they are addressed to.

Then current , where you are physically staying for your application, near the embassy you are applying to. So neither address should be Thailand on previous tourist visa.

If you do not yet have a bank or place where you deposited 500k registered in your name and country address then this may need a 3-4 month runway to set up before finalising your application.

You have to physically be in the country where you apply for the visa (in case of personal interviews).

Yes but thats current address not home adress. As I remember there are 2 separate options. The one near your chosen embassy of application is current place of stay, current address. Then there is a long term address. Then there's the planned address - where you'll be staying during your visa. (I'm recalling from memory)

From what I have read in this group in addition to the address where you apply the visa you have to provide another address which is called "home address". Please correct me if I'm wrong from the people who have applied already.

I understood. ;) So I would use my parent‘s address as home address.

Sure, I do, but it’s not a residential address because I deregistered. At the moment I stay in Thailand.

This is exactly the question as I don't have a country of residence anymore because I deregistered.

Address in Thailand can be a hotel, friends etc. address.

As home address in your country of residence you need to provide a real address where you are based or where you receive official correspondence e.g. family member, friend or a mailing/residential address they legitimately use.
