Hi, my Mum came to visit us in March for 3 weeks, she plans to come again for 12 days in September and is then coming back to SE Asia in late Jan/early Feb 2024 and plans to spend 10 days in the north of the country before heading off to other countries in SE Asia. That means 3 tourist entry stamps in a year from London - is this allowed? How many tourists entries are allowed per year? Need to double check for her!

TLDR : Answer Summary
A visitor can technically enter Thailand multiple times per year without a limit if arriving by air. There is a written rule allowing only two visa-exempt entries by land within a calendar year. However, as long as the traveler is coming by air and can provide necessary documentation upon arrival, there should be no issues with multiple entries, as long as they don't raise suspicions about being a non-genuine tourist.

The only written rule is TWO visa-exempt entry by land calendar year. As long as she is flying into Thailand, no limit on the number of entries. Technically, it's until the immigration officer gets doubts about being a genuine tourist.

As she is travelling for a short stay with intervals always, she wouldn't be a type of flagged traveller. Doesn't seem to have an issue with entry. Just be prepared with three proofs, accommodation (booking), funds of 20K baht or equivalent in cash, outbound travel ticket, when she enters Thailand.
