TLDR : Answer Summary
The maximum number of times you can extend your 30-day visa in a year is two times if you are using land border crossings. A 30-day visa exempt entry can be extended for an additional 30 days but not for 90 days. When border hopping to Laos, there is no official minimum required stay outside Thailand, but varying immigration officers may have different practices, with some requiring a 24-hour stay or more.

No 90 day extension...

So it’s 30 day extension not 90 days. The official rule is only two border runs by land in a calendar year. By air there is no official limit but after a few you will be told by immigration no more and you’ll have to get a proper visa for your length of stay. They are cracking down heavily since Covid on people living in Thailand and multiple visa exempts/tourist visas.

As for the how long do I have to stay outside of Thailand for it will vary at every border and every immigration officer some will happily stamp you out and back in in the same hour other will refuse and tell you to come back atleast 24hrs.

If you're border bouncing to Laos there's no minimum requirement to stay out of the country, but the 30 day stamp can only be extended 30 days, not 90. Maximum two land border crossings in a year

OK, with a 30 day visa exempt entry you would get 30 days and a 30 day extension (not 90). You are allowed 2 land/sea border entries per calendar year.
