Hi guys,

I entered Thailand on a 30 day exemption stamp. I have already been to the immigration office local to me to get this extended for another 30 days.

My question is, how many times can I keep doing this?

TLDR : Answer Summary
After entering Thailand on a 30-day exemption stamp, you can extend your stay for another 30 days once. To stay longer, you'll need to leave the country and re-enter. Depending on your passport's country of origin, you can do this twice a year for a new visa exemption if you re-enter by land, but it's unlimited if re-entering by air. Alternatively, consider applying for a visa at a Thai consulate or embassy.

Just a heads up - Immigration have been known to look at people's social media profiles, and your profile pic doesn't suggest you're travelling. You need to be a bit savvy about that kind of thing.

That's cool but an IO on the wrong day could interpret it as something else.

Ok thanks. That photo is from a day I went on with ‘Trash Hero’ who operate around Thailand on the islands and depend on travellers like myself to help them when they have clean up days.

You can only get once an Extension of Stay for 30 days. Than leave the country, if by land depending on country of origin of your passport you can only do this twice a year for a new 30 day Visa Exempt Entry, or unlimited by air. Or visit a Thai Consulate or Embassy and apply for a Visa.

Are you married to a Thai, are you over 50 years of age, do you have a Thai bank with some money on it. Do you like to follow classes, so many questions. Take a look at this page, click on different kind of visa and read the requirements. The requirements differ at other Embassies of Consultes but this page has them al lined up.

What visa would you recommend I apply for? I’m here for 6 months- 1 year travelling.

You can apply for a Visa at any Thai Consulate or Embassy, if you meet the requirements. Only the Multiple Entry Tourist Visa and the Non Immigrant O-A visa has the requirement of residency in the country.

Thanks I’m from the UK so I have a british passport. When you say visit the Thai Consulate to apply for a visa, I read online that any type of tourist visa must be applied for in your home country and not while you are already in Thailand on an exemption stamp. Is this correct?
