TLDR : Answer Summary
You can enter Thailand multiple times per year depending on the type of visa or entry policy. On a visa-exempt entry, you are generally allowed two entries per calendar year, but there may be flexibility if you do not stay the full 60 days. With a multi-entry tourist visa, you can enter as many times as you want during its validity. If you run an online coaching business, consider applying for the DTV visa to legally work while in Thailand.

Rules have changed again. I can suggest to all to look at Siam legal. They give very good information about many things in Thailand

siam legal and their fakesite that pretends to be an "embassy" is full of wrong information regarding this topic. You should kick it into the bin. They are good at Thai laws, but as a visa-advice they are a complete fail!

If you want to work remotely from inside Thailand with non Thai clients then get yourself the DTV, otherwise you would be working illegally. Bonus is you would have no entry problems

If your personal coaching is online whilst here the DTV visa can be used. No hands on training whilst in Thailand though

The money needs to be shown for application only. Not required to show upon entry

you would probably only get 2 60 day entries in year. You also have METV which can give you nearly 9 months of entries if you get entry dates right

clear as mud on google. And has changed many times recently. Often the search yields outdated results. Google is the last place for this topic. And you belive the Thai authorities explain everything 100% upto date in English in an easy way? And there's no personal interpretations from immigration staff which clearly wouldn't be in any offical information. So this is terrible advice

this guy is fulla %&§$ and so completely and utterly wrong, 2 visa exempt entries within a calendar year guarantee you two times 60 days, and with two extensions possible, which are 30 days and 7 days, you can get the maximum of 157 days out of visa-exempt entries. But be warned: if you have maxmized your first 60 days visa exempt entry with 30 days extension, and attempt another visa-exempt border run, you run the risk of only get admitted into Thailand for 30 days instead of a second 60-days admitted stay - like I said - it's upon the discretion of the border official

Visa-exempt - - -that is, if you extend each stay for the full length of a 60-days stay . . .

what I am trying to say is, if you don't maximize each stay, your chances of being allowed more than 2 times are bigger. You actually could enter visa-exempt 4 or 5 times during one calendar year if the total amount of stays is under 157 days (some will say under 180 days) and you can show proof of an onward ticket that you will leave Thailand before the full extent of 60 days is spent, on every entry point . . . .

However I must warn you that this is totally up to the sole discretion of the Immigration officer at the entry point

I would say that is a fair interpretation on how it is, and how it will play out - we have had this before with the two entry rule - and generally people who may come 4 or 5 times in a year for short trips are not likely to get pulled, but as you say it's still the IOs decision - I am currently one of those that fly in regularly, but for generally short stays, and a maximum of two weeks at the most, having previously lived and worked in Thailand for 16 years.

This seems to correspond quite well with the information currently available from any source, and the advantage of Facebook and visa groups is not only the sharing of knowledge, but also the continuous reporting of real-time border-crossing experiences.

. I am curious how much more %&$$§?§ he is going to comment. Himself he has not offered a single good advice, yet, but has already critcized advice that came from the experts of this group. His name should be "nutter", instead of Nutting. Or better, "nothing"

oh I’m so sorry great one — can you please provide your title with Thai Immigration?

I certainly don’t know everything you seem to have all that covered in your post about entering and leaving Thailand

The summary regarding visas is clearly correct. As for the interpretation of the new visa-exemption guidelines, what has been written is consistent with the information currently available from the official police order. We all need to observe how this is applied in practice over time before we can state with certainty how it will ultimately be implemented.

*** on a single entry tourist visa you can enter 2-3 times, until the point when they pull you aside and start questioning you if you work in Thailand illegally

*** on visa-exempt entries two times per calendar year . . . . a third attempt to enter will probably raise a few brows and can be denied (nobody can foresee the reaction of the officer at the entry point)

*** on a multi entry tourist visa as many times as you want during the 6-month visa validity

*** on a 5-year ELITE privilege visa as many times as you want during the 5 year validity of the visa

correct

Immigration officers now have explicit authority to deny entry if you have more than 2 visa-exempt entries (or “visa runs”) in a short period without a justifiable reason (e.g., genuine tourism with time spent outside Thailand). Some travelers with repeated entries are already receiving only 30-day stamps or being turned away.
