TLDR : Answer Summary
The retirement visa renewal process in Phuket typically requires that the 800,000 THB be kept in a single bank account for a period of three months prior to applying for the extension. Although one person noted that having the total amount spread across two accounts could be acceptable under certain conditions, it is advisable to confirm with the local immigration office in Phuket, as rules may differ from those in Bangkok. It's crucial to meet the seasoning requirements to avoid complications during the renewal process.

then the soonest you could apply for your new extension would be about the 16th of April. (because Phuket allows you to do it up to 45 days early)

Just so you know you'll be on the new rules then :O

You're going to have to have the 800K baht in the bank at least 2 months BEFORE you apply AND keep it in there for 3 months after you apply, Plus, for the rest of the year you'd need to keep at least 400K baht in the account(s)..

Check with the immigration office soon and then move the money if you have to so that you meet the seasoning requirements.

Yes, this because you apply every year for a NEW Extension of Stay with new documents.

Tod, just a question. Can you switch the income reasons for the year extension ? When e.g. you used banked money before and now use an income statement (65K ฿; Dutch) from the embassy and visaversa ?

, you need to have the money IN the accounts for 3 months before your yearly extension of stay application. <- Meaning you can't move money into that account if you're not going to wait 3 months for it to be in there.

Go see IF they'll take two accounts BEFORE you move your money AND if you can make sure you apply for your new extension of stay BEFORE march 1st <- when the new rules about banked money method take effect.

At least in Bangkok right NOW as long as you have a total of 800K baht in the two accounts and they are both in your name only AND the money in BOTH accounts is seasoned the appropriate time you'd be fine. (now what that wild west show Phuket immigrations does is anyone's guess)

You would need bank letters from EACH bank, AND update your bank book on the date you apply for the extension.

If it were split in two, neither bank would be able to issue that letter.

Plenty of bad info from you today. Maybe better to not comment rather than confuse the man ;)

, who really cares if they're happy or not. I don't want to be their friend, I want them to process my application for extension after I've met the criteria.

There is NOTHING in the rules that says I can't have as many bank accounts as I want it says 800K baht in a thai bank for xxx number of days before I apply for the extension. I looked again and didn't see in the thai version where it says it has to be in ONE bank account

If it doesn’t really matter to you, one account is the ‘standard’ as prescribed in the procedures. Sure, the officer can add two numbers from two different papers, but that’s additional work when processing your application. Make them happy. 🙂

I have had people use TWO accounts in bangkok as long as the total of the two was over 800K baht and the accounts were in their name only AND the money was in the appropriate amount of time

BUT

you should go ask your immigration office.

The bank letters do NOT confirm the money in the account is seasoned AT ALL. They simply list the name, passport number, account number, date the account was opened and the current balance.

Single one, and the bank will need to issue the letter confirming your money meets the seasoning requirement.

I think that's a "simplified version" that Bangkok Bank uses as their advertisement out at Chaengwattana to let people know they issue the letters.

This is another one all in thai BUT with the exact same things listed.
