If you have done Thailand Tourist e-Visa, regardless which embassy you submitted your application.

How long did it take to receive back the visa via email? Assuming you had attached & sent all required documents, properly.

I'm trying to determine WHEN is the best & safest time to submit my application. I been reading people applied couple months before their departure date but they were left hangin' for weeks, while some weren't still posting for assistance since their flight date is getting closer.

PS. I live in Indonesia, so eventually i need to submit my app to Thailand Royal Embassy Jakarta. And i am one with such anxiety if i dont complete everything far ahead (i already starting to pack my luggage too). My flight to Chiang Mai is on November 2026 and flight out is third week of January. I wish i would still receive a 60-day visa exemption but i'm not gonna hold my candle to it. Hence, better to start applying for Thailand Tourist eVisa. Btw, i need to visit Laos during Christmas and stay for a week then return back to Thailand after new year. If you were me, would you still apply for visa?
Answer summary
The post discusses the timeline for receiving a Thailand Tourist e-Visa via email after application submission to the Thai embassy in Jakarta. The author expresses anxiety about when to apply for the visa, considering their upcoming flight to Chiang Mai in November 2026. Comments from the community suggest that applying two months prior is generally secure, as Jakarta is not known for long wait times. The discussion also touches on visa types, re-entry permits, and the potential for exemptions due to the author's travel plan of visiting Laos during Christmas.

No need for Indonesia Passports to Apply for a Thai Single Entry Tourist E–Visa (SETV) and whenever 30 Days Visa Exemption ( ผ.30 ) reverts back, Indonesia, along with Malaysia, Singapore, and Brunei are specifically exempted from any Thai land border entry limits ( 'no overland entry limits' )

A single entry tourist visa is valid for entry to Thailand for 90 days after it is issued. That means you can apply up to 90 days before your intended date of entry. Jakarta is not known as a difficult or long wait embassy in general. You can apply 2 months before your trip and should feel fairly secure in receiving your visa. Some embassies do hold the applications until just a few days before the date of travel you put on your application, but I've never heard that of Jakarta.

i know having tourist visa for my case is a bit waste of money, since i must leave Thailand before my 30 days are up and then return to the kingdom a week later. However, i have booked my roundtrip flight long before 60 days visa exemption was officially reverted back to 30 days. Having a roundtrip flight with a total of stay +50 days in Thailand (meanwhile i assume by December, all 30-day visa exemption will take full effect), what do you think my chances are being denied boarding on my flight to Thailand? I've heard something like my outbound ticket MUST be within the legal limit of stay, but i'll be out of Thailand once for a week then return to catch my flight home later. Each of my stay will be somewhat 24-27 days.

Johan_Budiotso IATA has info on every country in the world, including entry and exit requirements, passports, etc.

Every airline can access IATA.

I had a 90-day stay booked last November with my return flight being after the standard 60-day visa-exempt period.

I flew from Miami, USA, to BKK. The check-in agent noticed the 90-day stay and wasn't sure. I told her a 30-day extension was virtually automatic, and she went and checked with a supervisor. Very shortly, she came back and checked me in.

Just my opinion, but I think it's more important to the airline that you have a PAID return ticket. That way, if you ARE denied entry, at least the airline knows they've been paid before having to take you right back where you came from. Probably not that simple, but a fair guess,,,, 🙃

And frankly, if your first stay is more than 20 days, unless you have an issue with how long you've stayed in Thailand in the past, you could enter visa-exempt both times. 20-day stay, leave, come back again for the last 30 days.

You have a long way before you need to get a visa and plenty of time to re-evaluate the situation well before having to get a visa. 👍

Johan_Budiotso That's between you and your airline. Even the same airline in different cities have different policies sometimes.

Johan_Budiotso With a tourist visa you will get a 60 day entry stamp and you can get a re-entry permit before you leave for 1000B to keep that 60 days stamp valid and this can be extended once for a further 30 days for 1900B
