TLDR : Answer Summary
The duration required to stay outside of Thailand after a 90-day stay can vary significantly. Many comments suggest quick border runs to neighboring countries like Cambodia, often taking just a few minutes. However, there are various opinions on what is acceptable, from a few minutes to suggestions of staying out for months or even years to avoid complications with visa stamps. Ultimately, the experiences shared indicate that the process may depend on specific border protocols, the discretion of border officials, and the current immigration climate.

Over 20 years ago, I remember sitting at the TikTock Club in Pattaya and a Thai gal would pull up on a motorbike with a plastic bin. We all gave her our passports and sat there while she did a visa run with 20 passports to Cambodia for us. We never left the country. Those were the good old days! And when your passport ran out of pages, you went to your embassy and they put a bunch more in so you can keep doing “border runs”!

@Mark ******
tourism is extremely important for most countries.

Absolutely! Hence I refuse to believe/accept all the doomsaying on this site,re restrictions on entry to Thailand! Though I would suggest Thailand's share of importance/ income is a lot more vital then say more advanced economies. Contributing to a far higher percentage to the economy,than say the UK and Germany. The latter having the 4th largest economy,and the former being the 6th largest. Thailand is well behind that.

Depends if the border man gets a bribe....

Usually 1 year is enough, but stay 3 years out of the country just in case

It is not stipulated, however the many stamps in the passport may lead to issues.

All depends on which border and who is working, and how they want to process you on that day.

3-5 mins is adequate, but you have to get stamped out of thailand, in and out of border nationand back in quickly at the border point
