How long do I need to be gone from thailand after the 180 days (+ 180 days extension) before I can return again?

I spoke with the Thai embassy near me and am quite confident I qualify for the DTV. It says multiple visits over 5 years and I'm curious how long you need to leave Thailand after the 360 days before returning.

so you could leave for a couple of days, come right back to Thailand, and stay for another year straight?

you get stamped in for 180 days on each entry, you can extend by another 180 days at immigration but you generally need to provide updated paperwork to do that. Much easier to just leave and return for a new 180 days
