My retirement visa will expire early May. I am in Pattaya. How long before the Visa expires do I need to start the paperwork. Sometimes these things take a day or two, other times a week or two.

TLDR : Answer Summary
If your retirement visa expires in early May, you can begin the renewal process 30 to 45 days before the expiration date. It is advisable to have all required documents, including financial statements, prepared at least one week prior to your appointment at the immigration office. Some users recommend handling this process personally to avoid complications and ensure you meet all necessary requirements.

You need to order the 12 month bank statement and guarantee letter 1 week before you go to apply. The paperwork can be done at IO on the day.

I highly doubt you are on any visa at all, but rather on the 1-year extension of the stay permit based on retirement. In Pattaya, you can apply for the next 1-year EOS up from 30 days before your current stay permit expires. You will need to fulfill the financial requirements

Steve Lowe I don't care, I live in Thailand, a country where almost everything costs less than half from the price in my home country. For this wonderful opportunity I am more than willing to put 800,000 THB into my Thai bank account emergency fund

Jackie Washington Mine expires April 22nd, but I sorted next one out yesterday at Jomtien immigration without any loss of remaining time. One caveat, immigration was shockingly packed yesterday. I haven't been there since last year, so don't know if that is the new normal. At least we are in the shade these day unlike pre and during the pandemic. Best of luck with your renewal.
