Hello, Just wondering if anybody knows how far in advance I can go to the Immigration Office in Koh Samui in order to extend my Retirement Visa. My current extension expires on December 27. I just found out today that there will be a Maroon 5 concert in Bangkok on December 10, and I'm thinking about going........so, I would feel more at ease if I could take care of Immigration prior to going up to Bangkok on Dec 10. Probably something I should call the Koh Samui Immigration Office about, but it's the weekend right now. Thank You.

TLDR : Answer Summary
You can extend your Retirement Visa at the Koh Samui Immigration Office up to 3 weeks before its expiration date. Since your extension expires on December 27, you can apply as early as December 6. While previous discussions included varying opinions about applying 30 to 45 days prior, it's confirmed that Koh Samui allows a maximum of 3 weeks in advance.

And with this information we can close it down.

Koh Samui allows people 3 weeks before last day to apply for a new 1 year Extension of Stay. Good luck.

I was thinking 2 weeks as well, but hoping it was flexible. I will call this week to see if it can be 3 weeks. Thank you.

30 days minimum and 45 in some provinces.

Many offices now allow people to apply during the last 45 days of their stay for a new Extension of Stay based on being over 50 years of age, the old regulation was during the last 30 days.

In you case if your current Extension runs out of Dec 27 you can apply starting 28 Nov for sure and maybe as early as 13 Nov.
