How does the retirement visa renewal process work in Thailand, and what are the new changes regarding document copies?

Retirement visa renewal completed successfully today. Bangkok Bank came through with the 12 month statement on time (four working days - unexpected). Hit the bank at 0830, arrived at Korat Immigration 0905. Seven agents in front of me (how do they do that?) but 3 counters open. Handed passport back at 1005. All sorted. 

One strange thing. 

After I received my passport with visa extended and 90 day renewed, I was also handed all the paperwork that I had submitted (and the officer had stamped multiple times) and was asked to get it copied and taken back to the office. Lass in the copy shop said that this was new this year. Good for her business mind. Seven people in front of me, and I was wondering why nobody had left. All waiting for the agents to get the files copied. 

Wonder what the rules will be next year :-)

I've never heard of them getting you do do copies, did you have to give the copies and originals back to them or were the copies for you to keep? If for you then maybe it's a way to simplify getting the right document next year (I keep everything on the computer and print each year so don't need copies) if for them then maybe the guy at the desk is just drumming up trade for the copier

Oh no i hope this isnt true for a marriage visa... Marriage visas will fund that ladies business alone haha. You will see a new BMW and her wearing a Gucci outfit next time. I do love how every year they add some more BS.
