We are preparing our docs for the renewal of our retirement visa. Last year Chiang Mai Immigration approved our retirement visa and we will apply in CM again.

A friend who recently renewed said they needed these documents:

TM7, STM2, STM9, and STM11.

TM7 I know but what are these STM forms for? It seems to apply to student visas but my friend isn’t a student nor has kids.

Answer summary

When renewing a retirement visa in Thailand, additional forms known as STM2, STM9, and STM11 may be required. These forms are increasingly requested by immigration offices for various types of visa extensions, including retirement visas. The STM forms serve purposes such as acknowledging penalties for overstays (STM9) and giving consent for information verification (STM11). Although their names may suggest a link to student visas, they are unrelated and pertain to extension processes. It's recommended to pre-fill these forms or obtain them at the immigration office.

Those are the acknowledgement forms and have nothing to do with student visas specifically.

They are forms that more and more offices are having people fill out when they get extensions. None of those documents have anything to do with student visa/extensions specifically.

I had to turn them in at Chaengwattana last week when I got a new year's retirement extension as well..

You can pre-fill them out, or you can wait until they hand them to you when you're getting the queue for your extension

These are the links to the documents from the bangkok immigration website

STM.2 (Criteria and conditions for permit of temporary stay in thailand)

STM.9 (Acknowledgement of overstay penalties)

STM.11 (Consent for fact checking and information verification)
