Buy a ticket and add your info. Personally, I used an agent. They have an online portal, I just uploaded all of my docs and they told me if I was missing anything; they caught an error that would likely resulted in a denial if I did myself. Most embassies handle the applications based on intended arrival instead of when they are made, I believe. So, enter the date close to one you are intending to enter... I believe they suggest not to apply if your intended date is not in 3 months
