I have recently moved to Kanchanaburi from BKK. I want to take a driving test and for this I need a certificate of residence from immigration, and to get that I need a TM30. This is my dilemma, I have spoke to my property owner and she does not have a clue how to do it. I think I may be her first western customer.

I have read that I can file it myself, so, finally getting to my question. How do I go about doing that? Do I need anything from the owner?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user has moved to Kanchanaburi and wants to know how to file a TM30 form for a certificate of residence needed for a driving test. They are unsure about the process, as their property owner is unfamiliar with it. Comments provide guidance on the necessary documents and steps, including filing independently with required forms like the TM30, owner’s ID, and house book. Suggestions also mention resources for filing and the potential challenges with immigration offices.

I file mine myself but I require house books of both properties and owner id card signed. Also copy of lease agreement signed and witnessed. The io is never happy that my landlady is not present and always asks to speak to her on the phone. Tm30 form completed by house owner and copy of my passport. That does the trick for me. For my driving license my office would not issue a certificate of residence. I had to get Land Transport to request one from immigration which took 3 weeks.

immigration office will give you the list of documents needed . quite easy . your owner don't do it ? do it for her with the documents previously mentioned :

owner Id , and blue book . very easy .

Each office has different requirements so hard to say but in general you’ll need a signed copy of their ID. A copy of the tabien Baan ( or blue house book) if they’re not with you a power of attorney form with 10 baht tax stamps. A filled out TM30 form and copies of your passport, visa if any and entry stamp - all signed.

Your office may require different to self file.

She takes her house book and ID card to immigration, that's it. She required by law to file one.
