TLDR : Answer Summary
John has successfully applied for a 90-day non-O single entry visa and is seeking clarification on the activation process. He asks whether he needs to exit Thailand and return to activate the visa, and if he must register his place of stay again with immigration after activating the visa, even if he has already declared it in his application.

Since you will have changed visas using your non Imm O on the next entry you will need to file a new TM30.

You mean you applied for your visa on the eVisa system and now it's approved and you already get the eVisa PDF, right?

Then you print PDF file out to bring it on paper, then get out of Thailand and return with that visa, by air or through a land border. (this is "activating un-used visa")

TM30 has information on what entry (or visa) you are on. You need to update TM30 with the right information even at the same address.
