How did I successfully navigate the DTV visa application process in Manila after a rejection in Europe?

I just got approved for my DTV visa! 🇹🇭

What a rollercoaster this has been.

While we were still in Europe, I applied for the DTV as a freelancer. Unfortunately, that application was rejected. The original plan was to fly to Thailand and apply again for the DTV in Laos in November, with the help of an agency, as the Netherlands is known for being particularly strict with DTV applications.

Then, one day before I was supposed to fly to Thailand, the news broke that DTV applications could only be submitted from your own country. Suddenly, the entire plan had to change.

That same day, I booked a flight to Manila.

I flew from the Netherlands via China and arrived just four hours before the midnight deadline. Luckily there were no delays: had I arrived after 00:00, I would not have been able to submit my application under the previous rules.

With the help of an agency, I submitted a new application for a Muay Thai DTV visa. From 29 August until tonight, I waited.

Four weeks in Manila, with the previous rejection in the back of my mind and the feeling that embassies and Thailand are becoming increasingly strict. It was genuinely stressful, but tonight I finally received the approval!!🎉🎉🎉🎉
