Just wanted to say thank you to this lovely community for all the support and useful info. Got our DTVs approved today. In case anyone's wondering:

Where: Royal Thai Embassy Hanoi, Vietnam

Dates: Filed on Oct 15th (me) and 16th (boyfriend) and got our approvals today on Oct 21st.

Documents provided aside from the obvious:

* for financial proof: at least 3 months of back bank statements showing more than 500k baht (spread across multiple different currencies) / additionally I showed proof or some money I have invested and I think so did my boyfriend + in the cover letter I also stated that I own a property back home

* for work proof: a short cover letter explaining: what I do for a living and that I can do it 100% online, that I've attached bank statements and clients contracts and an explanation why I'm applying + 2 contracts with my clients + a certificate from one of my clients basically stating that I work online and that I'm an invaluable asset to their company + a pdf of my website showing examples of my work. My boyfriend did the same but a pdf of the website of the company he works with and circled in red a photo of himself in the "employees" section lol

Approved without any requests for additional info yayy.

If anyone has any questions, hit me up! I'll probably be making a video or 2 about the experience for my socials in case anyone's interested (shameless plug) - @nomadicmarta 🤣

hi, may I ask if Hanoi Embassy required you to provide the proof of accommodation in Thailand (e.g: rental contract,...etc)? We wanna apply for the visa but we don't know if it's gonna be approved or not so we don't really spend a 1 year-rental on Thai apartment yet 😅

Thiên Đăng hi, no they didn't require it... I would have thought the evisa form is the same for all DTV frelancer applicants and there was no "slot" to provide that on the website

Congrats. Did you go through the embassy or evisa?

ORIGINAL POSTER
Bo Thu there are no in-person meetings anymore so the only option was an evisa

That’s awesome! Did you have to show proof of residency?

@Sakis ***********
nobody needs to show that for the freelancer subcategory 🙂 The only location-related proof they need is to show you're applying from outside of Thailand. And for that I used the scan of my passport page showing my entry stamp to Vietnam + a hotel booking reservation pdf

thanks Marta, that’s really useful. I’m coming for Thailand to get back in on a DTV so I think the might need more information from me. But it sounds like you had a very good experience.

I am in HCM right now. Was hoping I could make it in 2 days but now I'm thinking it's more likely to be 4-5 days. Quick question; was your application also on 'pending approval' pretty quick and then stayed that way until you got it?

@Dave *******
If you flew there, then you should have booked your tickets in such a way to reflect the expected processing time of 5 business days.

Tomorrow is Thai holiday, so closed.
