TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion revolves around obtaining a DTV visa and opening a bank account in Thailand. Many commenters suggest that while there might be agents claiming they can assist with a DTV visa, no agency can legally secure this visa from within Thailand since it is procured from outside the country. Concerns are raised regarding opening bank accounts, particularly under tourist visas or DTVs, with reports that banks are increasingly closing or freezing such accounts. Most advise against using agents due to potential complications and changes in regulations.

You can forget about a bank account. They're starting to freeze existing accounts, so you won't be able to open a new one

Why keep using agents to do these tasks when it obviously seems to cause issues, such as crackdowns on bank accounts? Most banks are refusing DTV. Agents are only short-term fix. Sometimes I don't understand the logic of some people.

No agency can get you a DTV legally as it is a process outside of thailand. They have no influence in this. All they can do is check your documents but this fb group has all the information you really need. So an agent is useless.

Bank account is a difficult thing. they are now closing many accounts for people on tourist visa and dtv is a tourist visa. i would wait. but you dont really need a local bank account.

Anonymous participant 353 My BOI Visa gave me 15% flat taxes rate so there is 2 if that is what you were defining as links. The BOI came before the LTR. However, that is not what I meant. The systems are not linked to each other. When you complete a tax return on BOI for example you indicate it and give details. The tax department cannot see your immigration details.

There will be several agents who claim that they can do that for you, and some actually can, many for a high fee. But I wouldn't bother at this time, even if you get a bank account, it could be closed / frozen on you at any time. I'd wait until the laws change

You can pay an agent a large fee but do not complain if your account is closed soon after. They are closing accounts opened on tourist visas

You wont be getting a bank account anytime soon. Banks are closing/freezing accounts opened on DTV and tourist visas
