Hi I have been here in Thailand studying on an education visa. Now i am at the end of the course and i have been offered a job in Bangkok. The company has never hired a forgiener before and are asking me to help look into the options in how to best obtain a work visa. It will be managing/consultant role for a hospitality company that has 3 hotel/hostel properties in Bangkok. Can anyone give me advice on now to proceed or a contact that can help. The little research they already did seems to put it around 65k to do, is this about right, as i have no reference? Thanks

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user, currently on an education visa in Thailand, is transitioning to a job in Bangkok for a hospitality company that has not previously hired foreigners. They seek advice on obtaining a work visa, noting some preliminary research indicating costs around 65,000 Baht. Community comments suggest various actions: engaging a visa agent or accountant for assistance, visiting the Thai Ministry of Labor for guidance on work permit applications, and preparing the necessary documentation for a 90-day Non-Immigrant Type B visa. Recommendations also include checking visa requirements on Thai consulate websites and involving knowledgeable HR personnel.
NON-O RETIREMENT VISA RESOURCES / SERVICES
  • Go to the Retirement Visa Section for information on requirements, including age restrictions, financial requirements, and necessary documentation.
  • For immediate assistance, contact Thai Visa Centre directly via LINE at @ThaiVisaCentre or Email them.
  • Explore recent discussions by using the Non-O Retirement Visa tag in the search box at the top of the page.

Many accountants act as visa agents. They often know more than lawyers about the Government Bureau documents you will need. You can hire an Accountant / Visa Agent from 15 to 20 to 25,000 Baht.

@Ja***
, even for a high end paper-pushing visa agency that figure is way out of whack as far as what companies are charging.

They can go out to the immigration office and get the sheet that lists the requirements for you to get first a 90 day Non-O visa and then a yearly extension of stay.

Also keep in mind we have a no recommendation of visa agencies in thailand on the group. It's set up so people can ask questions and push their own paper.

As i said they did research and its seems it will cost 65k+ to hand it over to legal service to take care of it, I was simply trying to lend a hand to expand the scope of knowledge from my end. As I am a member of this group i though i may ask as the advice is always amazing....To be fair the company it was a small start up 2 years ago and grown fast; thus the need now to fill vacancies.

65K , pfff , massive. Ok , I will chk it out for you. Will get back to u by tomorrow. Do the company have all papers or they are clueless abt papers as well.

The company never hired a foreigner , ok understood , but they must have hired a sensible thai HR who can wade across thai DOL or immigration websites to figure that out for you.

The documentation you need to supply the thai consulate is listed on their website so your employer can make sure they have everything before they send you to get the visa.

Just before you go you would take a letter from your school to the immigration office stating you are going to stop studying, and they will cancel your extension based on education.

Thanks a lot, I will travel to the UK in 2 weeks time. Do you recommend coming back and doing it with company here in Bangkok directly, or is it worth using a legal team or an experienced company to assist with the process?

Visit with Employer the Ministry of Labor, they will give you a hand out to apply for the work permit, than with the application form wp3 you can look at the website of any Thai Consulate/Embassy in neighbor countries to see the requirements for the Visa.

You would get documentation from your employer that you would take to a thai consulate to get a 90 day Non-Immigrant Type B <-(business) visa.
