Hi can anyone advise me please as to how I would get 9 months stay with a METV visa? Also how would this work with my partner and my daughter (2 years old) and would we be eligible for a 1 or 2 year education visa afterwards? If the METV visa involves going in and out of the country i’d rather avoid it so as not to have to move my daughter around too much. Any advice would be greatly appreciated as we’d like to be in Thailand for a couple of years from February.

Many thanks.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The METV (Multiple Entry Tourist Visa) allows for a potential 9-month stay in Thailand through two border runs. It is essential to plan accordingly, especially for families, as it may involve multiple entries and exits. Alternatives include a Thai tourist visa upon arrival, which offers an initial 90 days, with options for an education visa (Ed Visa) for long-term stays related to studying the Thai language or attending university. Additionally, the Thai Elite Visa offers a straightforward 5-year stay option but requires a fee.

...Tod Daniels suggests that the simply enter Thailand with a Thai tourist visa...that gives you 60 days on arrival plus 30 days extension of stay = 90 days... Then look at your options of staying. I think it's a good suggestion... Good Luck 🤞

NOW that you have reworded your questions... I'll attempt to answer...

.... The METV multiple entry tourist visa is only available in your home country.

are important to you in obtaining the METV.

... with planning as Tod suggests will get you up to 9 months stay in Thailand. It will require you to do two simple land border crossing BORDER BOUNCES...

And can be done same day if you want. Suggest you use an experienced border run service company to take you and your family to get the BORDER BOUNCE stamp.

... The Ed Visa for studying Thai Language is an option...but is 9 months of study...3 three months extensions. Contact a local School in the area where you will live. They can assist you.

...As I said by pm message before... you could enroll in a Thai university to obtain an Ed Visa for the years required to obtain the degree.

... And there's the Thai Elite Visa available for you...600,000 Thai baht Plus.... grants you 5 years stay in Thailand.
