Hi, my boyfriend is Chilean and he's in the hospital getting a surgery. His tourist visa will finish on 22nd January 2020, and he won't be able to go out of Thailand by 22nd. We are in Chumphon, we can get a certificate from a doctor. Where can I send his passport for get an extension ? Or what can I do ?

Thank you for your help ๐Ÿ™

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user seeks assistance in extending their boyfriend's tourist visa, which expires while he is hospitalized after surgery in Chumphon, Thailand. Community members advise contacting the nearest Thai immigration office, ideally with a doctor's certificate indicating he cannot travel. They provide a link to Chumphon's immigration office for more information.

He needs to go to Immigration Office which serves your area in person by himself unless doctor makes document saying he cannot move from the hospital.

One more thing.. I guess better to go to immigration office as early as possible in case you need to go to get second opinion from different doctor/hospital. Extension based on medical reason would NOT be approved if you are on overstay even 1 day...

Doctor paperwork needs to mention not just he is unable to "travel" but also about he is not capable to go to Immigration Office for you to be able to go instead of and without him .

Basically yes, but you MIGHT need power of attorney form from him...

And be aware that still you would have possibility to be sent to another doctor for second opinion before granted extension of stay.

So I can go by myself to the nearest Thai Immigration with the passport of my boyfriend and a certificate of the doctor saying he's unable to travel. And he'll get an extension ? Even if he's not present physically ?

To the nearest thai immigration.

Be careful... Nearest office is not always the one serves your area.
