Last night i've just gotten my SETV approved!!

Applied on 16 October 2026, paid by Credit Card at the same day. Via Thailand Embassy Jakarta.

I was regularly checking the eVisa portal for any "updates" but it was always "Pending Document Check" until i've lost patience. Did anyone there even bother looking at my application at all? That was what on my mind.

Then on 27 October (10 days later), Tuesday morning, i mustered up a courage and wrote a quick gently email reminder to Thailand Counsular., pleaded them to check out my visa application reference number.

(Yes, do NOT send email to embassy because it goes straight to spam! Go for counsular's private email instead! They have so far been very helpful, they were the ones who guided my about required financial statements and family invitation letter)

On the same day, 27 October evening i received an email requesting for an extra document from thaiEvisa portal (Financial Bank Statement dated October 1 - 27 -- earlier i sent statement for July-Sept), later that midnight the Thai counsular himself personally replied my earlier email and assured myme that my visa application has been processed and suggested me to quickly send the asking document since i was already moved up to "Priority List".

Morning on 28 October i went to the bank and ask them to email me October statement. I then attached and sent such document on eVisa portal (there is a notification on eVisa portal, specifically meant to upload said document).

Last night, 29 October i have received "Your Visa has been Approved" via email, including the attached pdf visa.

.......now....

Imagine; on another 'multiverse' where my old self was still patiently waiting and NEVER sent out the email asking for what happened to my application. Would i have still received the request to upload extra document? Would i have succesfully received my visa last night?

Moral of the story, AFTER 10 days of waiting, it wouldnt hurt to gently "remind" them people behind the screen to pay attention on your application.

FYI, my departure date to Thailand is November 30, 2026. So, for my specific case i believed my visa application was sped up due to my email reminder.

PS. This is not a false story. I can always attach the proof of visa pdf and email screenshot but i see no need for that yet.
Answer summary
A user shares their experience of applying for a Thai SETV eVisa, detailing the timeline from application submission to approval. After experiencing a delay with their application status stuck on "Pending Document Check" for 10 days, they sent a reminder email to the Thai Consular, which led to a request for additional financial documentation. After providing the required information promptly, the user received their visa approval the following day. The story emphasizes the importance of following up on visa applications if there are delays, and suggests contacting the consular directly for better results.

OP
Kevin O'donnell so do you think it was a 'coincidence' that the day i emailed Thai counsular regarding my visa application, the same day the visa status changed from Pending Document Check to Requesting Document, then approved the next day? All that was meant to happen even without i emailed them?

Yes, i was well aware 10 working days but i ran out of patience and decided to ask them myself. I was also prepared to wait for 30 working days if AT THE VERY LEAST they move a needle on my status.

Johan_Budiotso Pure coincidence , you are even lucky that the private councular mail react to this kind of messages. If everyone would do it it would slow down even everything. Thai embassies in Europ got a waiting time from 4 a 5 weeks due to the coming high season
