ORIGINAL POSTER
Applied on: 29th Dec, Canberra consulate,

Requested extra documents on 13th Jan

Approved on 14th Jan

Used Muay Thai fever gym in Chang mai.

Just uploaded everything required with a cover letter, as I work FIFO I wanted to explain I will fly there every month on my break for Muay Thai, I have condo in Pattaya but submitted a free cancellation hotel in Chang mai for the application purposes.

I did return to Thailand while it was processing as my Metv visa was still Valid . Will enter on my dtv next trip back to Thailand.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user shared their experience applying for a DTV visa at the Canberra consulate in December. They submitted extra documents after being requested in January, and their visa was approved shortly thereafter. Despite concerns about traveling to Thailand while the application was in process, they entered on a valid METV visa, intending to participate in Muay Thai training. The comments celebrate their luck in getting approved and offer practical advice.

Consider yourself VERY Lucky 🍀

...Leaving Australia while the DTV visa application is pending is a "No No".

... Being approved for the DTV visa while you had a VALID METV multiple entry tourist visa in your passport likewise is Lucky 🍀 for you. Most reports of similar situations resulted in the DTV visa being DENIED.

Thank You for your helpful report 👍

Congratulations 👏👏👏

PRINT OUT THE EMAIL THAT HAS YOUR DTV VISA.

That's what you should do... print it out.

You may have to show PROOF of your DTV Visa to airline staff on check-in for your flight ✈️ to Thailand...even to the connecting airline staff. Or to the land border crossing entry Thai Immigration Officer.

Upon arrival into Thailand, show the DTV visa to the Thai Immigration Officer and look at the STAMP placed in your passport to be sure you are STAMPED in for 180 days.

The Australia Thai Embassy and Consulates are known to be friendly in Aussie citizens visa applications.
