How can I apply for a Thai DTV visa while in Vietnam, and what should I consider during the process?

I am an Indian passport holder, who works for a US company and currently waiting for my US visa renewal (don't know how many months it will take for that to go through).

Meanwhile, I am planning to get Thai DTV visa, so I can live and work from Thailand.

I am going to be in Vietnam for 2 months starting January and would like to apply for Thai DTV visa from there. For those who have gone through the process in Vietnam, would really appreciate if you can help answer these questions...

1. At any point during the visa process, do you have to visit the Thai embassy/consulate in Hanoi or HCMC?

2. Does it matter if I apply via Hanoi or HCMC?

3. I will be in HCMC first, then go to Da Nang and finally to Hanoi. I can spend 2-4 weeks in each city if needed. If I apply for DTV while in HCMC, and then move to Da Nang after a week, will it be an issue for DTV processing? This assumes that DTV is still in process after a week.

4. Similarly, if I apply for DTV while in Da Nang, but then move to Hanoi, will be in an issue for DTV processing?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user, an Indian passport holder, seeks guidance on applying for a Thai DTV visa from Vietnam, specifically addressing concerns about processing locations in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC), travel during the application process, and the likelihood of interviews or delays. Comments suggest that processing in Hanoi may be quicker than in HCMC, and it is generally recommended to remain in the city where the application is submitted until the visa is processed.

Actually nobody knows, because every situation is different. It can have interview or not. The more your case looks exotic the more youll probably have interview. Same for delays. Expect 2 3 weeks

Hcmn is slower then hanoi. But yes you can go da nang while doing visa in hcmn.

You cannot go from da nang to hanoi while doing the visa process. 2 diffrent regions

Hi,

Trying to answer questions based on what I have been reading on the group while I applied and attained DTV in India.

1. "Usually" there aren't any interview calls in Vietnam but can happen

2. Based on readings from the group Hanoi could be a better choice

3 and 4. As per rules, you shouldn't leave the country till the visa is being processed and the recommendation is to stay in the place where you have applied from just in case the embassy asks you for additional proof of location or as an outside chance of being called for an interview.

The processing time is usually less than 2 weeks so better to stay in one location.

Also, there are many people who would have acted differently and still scored the visa but then that doesn't still define what's the safe approach as per rules.

All the best to you!
