I am about due for my 1st extension of stay on a Non Immigration O-A visa. I understand I need the required health insurance which I have had since June 2020. Does the policy need to be valid for a full year from the date of my extension?

TLDR : Answer Summary
When applying for the first extension of stay on a Non-Immigration O-A visa, it is necessary to possess health insurance from one of the 15 approved providers. The insurance must be valid at the time of the extension application, and the extension duration will align with the validity of the insurance. If your current policy expires in June 2021, you would only receive an extension until that date unless you renew the policy for a full year.

You need to have the required health insurance coverage from one of the 15 approved insurance carriers for the O-A policies.

You need to be covered when you apply for the year extension and will get the extension for as long as the insurance is good for (up to a year).

SO if you can get the policy renewed (pay for another year which starts when this one runs out) you will get a year extension, Otherwise you just get an extension until June 2021 and then go apply for a new year extension again when that runs out
