TLDR : Answer Summary
When applying for an ED visa in Thailand, the payment structure can vary. Most sources indicate that applicants typically need to pay the full amount for the visa and course fees upfront. However, there may be different policies among schools; for example, Duke Language School requires a minimum prepayment for a set number of months, after which additional payments can be made if the student wishes to continue. It's advisable to check specific school policies regarding payment and visa application support.

Every school will have their own policy. Duke Language School required prepay a minimum number of months and then they would support visa application. And then you can pay for more months as you go if you wish to continue studying.

Can anyone recommend a reliable ED Visa Company in BKK? And Does a legit ED Visa preclude you from an ELITE Visa down the line? - cheers
You don't need an agent for elite. Just apply directly, very easy and simple.
Do not use bogus visa if you considerkng elite, as it might get disqualify you. Elite stated if you had bogus volunteer visa you can't get elite (although I think it depends).
Since you thinking of staying in Thailand long term... Go to a Thai school, get a legitimate visa, and learn the language and culture ✌️ I did the same thing. Ed to elite. I attended ALA, they have online classes too.
