Can I apply for a Thai DTV with funds in a fixed deposit instead of a savings account?
Hi everyone! I don’t have the required 500,000 THB in a current or savings account. Instead, I have more than 500,000 THB equivalent in a fixed deposit (FDR). The funds are in my name, and I have both an official bank statement and a bank-issued certificate confirming the balance and that the deposit can be withdrawn upon request.
Has anyone successfully applied for a DTV using a fixed deposit as financial proof, particularly through the Thai Embassy in Dhaka or Laos.
Would really appreciate hearing about any recent experiences, especially if the embassy requested additional documents or asked to see the funds through a banking app.

I got mine with 1.8 million thb in a FDR Bangkok Bank account. It will be accepted. The ฿ hadn’t been touched in about 5 years.

Some Consujates accept but not all. If the FD is of sweep in/out type linked to your linked account, do mention it in the cover letter!
