Do we need to extend our health insurance coverage for the LTR WP visa if it expires before we receive our visa?

LTR WP visa - health insurance: we applied one week after annual insurance renewal and it has now been about five weeks, so in two weeks we will have only 10 months remaining on our insurance. If we don't get the visa within two weeks, will we somehow need to extend our insurance coverage to hit 10 months again? This would be difficult as it's international insurance with annual premium. We were planning to do the e-visa through our embassy (Manila), but if they are slow perhaps doing it in Thailand would be better? Any comments from LTR holders with insurance (not money in bank) would be helpful. I have found BOI responsiveness not as good as advertised here.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is inquiring about the implications of their health insurance on their LTR WP visa application, particularly if the visa isn't processed before their insurance falls below 10 months remaining. They mention difficulty with the BOI's responsiveness and seek insights from others who have experience with annual insurance policies. Comments suggest that while the BOI may not have specific guidance, some have successfully adjusted their insurance periods, and it may be possible to organize insurance details later in the visa process.

I have worldwide (incl USA), high-end insurance coverage through Allianz, not travel insurance. The cost is exorbitant, so I don't really want to add another policy. BOI has responded with cut and paste (or not at all), not tailored to the actual question. I am hoping to hear from someone that actually went through the process with an annual insurance policy such as ours.

I have a Thai insurance policy, Pacific Cross, and at one time they adjusted my coverage by a few months to synchronize my insurance with my OA visa. Pacific Cross also has yearly premiums. You should talk to your insurance company about your needs. You never know . . .

I now have a pensioner LTR.

It actually says you can sort out the insurance later in the process so I wouldn't worry about it for now. But it does need to be health insurance that covers you in Thailand, not just travel insurance. I know people on the Non-OA visa have had difficulty using overseas insurance as the insurance company wouldn't certify it for Thailand

Ian sure BOI will give you the right information, as well about the duration.
