TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion revolves around whether teachers in Thailand should keep their work permits with them or if it's acceptable for the school to hold onto them. One comment indicates that while it's ideal for teachers to have their permits, officially, they are meant to keep it at the school. Another commenter emphasizes the necessity of having the work permit on hand for various uses, like opening a bank account and potentially for border crossings.

has to be in your possession to be used for various things (bank account for one). I had to show my work permit once at a border crossing (atypical).
Chris ********
I keep mine but I think officially you are supposed to have it on you at your school. I wouldn't want my employer holding it though
