Hi my daughter and her friend (UK passport holders) are going travelling in a few weeks and are unsure on whether they need to get a multiple entry visa for Thailand.

They are re-entering three times for an overall time of 27 days (7 day, then 2 days and then 18 days) to cover the north and south of Thailand but visiting other countries in between.

We found this on the Embassy (photo attached) but are unsure whether this would work for them.

Any help would be greatly appreciated,

Thank you!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The inquiry is regarding whether two UK passport holders need a multiple entry visa for their planned travels to Thailand, where they will enter three times for a total of 27 days. According to responses, no visa is necessary as they will receive a 60-day entry stamp upon each entry. However, it is recommended that they have proof of their onward travel to avoid any possible issues during re-entry.

Well, I have applied for an ETA, and they granted me a 3 month visa... it took 3 days to get it.. if you have enough time, you could use it by the ETA portal.

Ok. The tangent here about a Brazilian passport is going to confuse loads of people.

Brazil along with a few other countries holds a special relationship with Thailand where their passport holders can get a visa waiver entry for 90 days. A visa waiver is completely different to a visa exempt entry. Semantics matter. With a waiver you cannot apply for an extension. You get 90 days and then you leave.

However you could (why would you?) apply for a tourist visa and pay for it and get 60 days on arrival. That can be extended for 1,900 baht once for a further 30 days.

If you bought a tourist visa already then so be it. You’ll get a 60 days stamp. The officer may overlook the fact that you have a visa and stamp you for 90 days anyway but that’s a coin toss.

thank you for detailed reply, actually I just Googled it and it told me required an ETA, so that I applied for an E-VISA here and uploaded all documents on their portal, and paid 200 Rs [ 35 dollars] they approved the visa and got by email in 3 days, so I was just confused wheatear to apply or not..

I doubt you would have been granted a 3 month visa unless you applied on a retirement O or other long term visa. The visa i believe you have is a 60 day tourist visa which you have 90 days in which to use it. Not a 3 month visa. You will get stamped in for 60 days the same as visa exempt

if it's s tourist visa it only gets you 60 day stamp for entry into thailand. You have 90 days to use the stamp suggest you read again what you have been given. You can get a 30 day extension inside of thailand at a local immigration office once you arrive if you want 90 days

No visa necessary. They will receive a 60 day entry stamp each time they enter Thailand. With that many entries I would recommend they have proof of their next trip each time they enter, as one of the required items that can be asked for is proof of their leaving Thailand. So either have their ticket back to the UK at the end of the trip, or the ticket to their next destination, that way if they are asked they won't run into any issues.
