#insurance I am currently in Thailand on extension of stay based on retirement with the OA visa, due to renew in July. I currently have the 400,000 insurance. Will I need to have the 100,000 us dollar policy to renew my extension? Or is that not in effect until September?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The individual is seeking clarification on whether they need to upgrade their current 400,000 baht insurance policy to a $100,000 policy for the upcoming visa extension renewal in July. Comments indicate that the 400/40 insurance remains valid for current extensions, and the new requirement may not take effect until September.

I don’t think the September transition has been officially explained yet; presumably those on the local 400 000 baht policy will remain so, until next years EoS date. Many folk will welcome the change, as the $100 000 policy can be purchased externally and a lot of guys already have that level of international cover to supplement the ‘Mickey Mouse’ local policy.
