Hello everyone

My retirement visa ends January 2021 and I’m not in Thailand and it looks like no one will be traveling there until mid 2021. My question is. When I apply for new retirement visa do I need to start all over again. Meaning getting police report, showing income and health insurance

Thanks guys.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is inquiring whether they need to redo all required documentation (police report, income proof, health insurance) to apply for a new retirement visa after their current one expires while they are outside Thailand. Responses suggest that, generally, if a retirement visa expires, one will need to start the application process anew, depending on specific embassy policies and current travel restrictions due to the pandemic.

Frankly, I believe starting November, long-term expats will be allow to return. It’s not written in stone, but things are happening in the background.

Same situation. Mine expires in early March 2021. I'm currently stuck in Vietnam. If you come to Thailand on a 60-day tourist visa you should be able to get a new retirement visa inside the country. This is what I did in 2017. No police report from your home country needed...

mine expires also in March , but playing the waiting game here ....I am not going to go into quarentine ...when and if they stop that I will go back ....if my visa has expired so be it ...there are options I believe

If it expires, then you must start over. From some reports, now, if you've got a few retirement extensions in your passport, you can return, but it is up to your local Thai embassy, because they aren't all treating everyone the same yet.

Nobody knows when you'll be allowed to return. Are you married to thai national? Or father to thai kids? If so, get on to the embassy and get your name down for repatriation flights.
