Do I need to sign my documents for a Non 'O' Visa application at the Thai consulate in Savannakhet?

Hello everyone,

I’m going to the Thai consulate in Savannakhet next week for a single entry Non “O” based on marriage and want to start preparing my documents. Would my documents need to be signed and if so, should I have my documents manually signed first then take photos of my documents or have them electronically signed and submit them in PDF format?

Thanks in advance

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is preparing to apply for a single entry Non ‘O’ visa based on marriage at the Thai consulate in Savannakhet. They inquire whether their documents need to be manually signed before submitting them, or if electronic signatures are acceptable. Comments suggest that official documents must be provided, and it is noted that visa applications through the eVisa website do not require physical signatures.

: Yes, I’ll do that. That’s the LEAST I could do for all the time and help you gave me now and in the past.

Your proof of funds needs to be on official bank statement

@Bob *********
hes only applying for a tourist visa and you only have to show 20K baht in a bank account (about 600 usd)

@Tod ********
he said non-o based on marriage

: Sorry, I was first going to apply for single entry but after hearing about the funds requirement, Tod suggested applying for a tourist visa IF I’m not allowed to get another visa exemption.

@Bob *********
he doesn't have the proof of funds for that (as it's now required at all consulates)

Thanks for your response. I could show regular bank deposit from my Mom helping me out here from as far back as 10+ years (on the 29th of every month $1300 and $1000 on the 1st of every month. The thing is I can only print out my bank statements showing my name on the account and the deposit and usage in Thailand, etc, would you think this would do?

I’m thinking some kind of sponsor letter

: OK thanks for your response. I’ll look into this.

you can make a profile, select Lao and Savannakhet and upload all your documents before you even go to Lao, just leave the application in your profile and once you get to Lao take a photo of your visa/entry stamp, upload it, then submit the application. You'll get a confirmation you print out and then take that to the thai consulate to pay in cash for the visa

doesn't show that any of them need to be signed by anyone when you apply on the eVisa online website

oh I also saw that one of the documents is a to show financial income of 400,000 and/ or a monthly income of no less than 40,000 baht. Is this for a single entry non “O” based on marriage VISA?
Tod *********
@Jon ************
yep, since the consulates all over the world went to online eVisa the 90 day single entry Non-O visa DOES require proof of funds

There are no consulates that issue the 90 day Non-O without it anymore

: Oh no, I was planning to fly home later this year so I needed to stay at least 3 more months. I was o a visa exempt for the time being but at the friendship bridge in Nakhon Phanom, the officer said I need to get a visa. Do you think O could go to Savannakhet Laos to get a tourist visa next week?
Tod *********
@Jon ************
you could probably even bounce out/back at the Mukdahan/Savannakhet bridge and get a new 60 day visa exempt entry stamp.

Ask them at the bridge before you cross AND if they say you can't then go apply for a single entry tourist visa at Savannakhet

: Sorry Tod. I have two more questions. Along with a recent bank statement from my bank in Hawaii (I have more than $700) Should I also include a recent bank statement of my KrungTai bank account or might my KrungThai bank account jeopardize my tourist visa application?

As for my invitation letter: Would it be ok for it to be from my Thai wife? (Would this be grounds of declining of my tourist visa application as they may say I’m applying for the wrong type of visa?)
Tod *********
@Jon ************
you're making this harder than you have to

GO to the border and see if you can bounce out and back
Tod *********
@Jon ************
so you didn't even try to bounce out/back yet? I think you don't need to even worry about a tourist visa at Savannakhet

If you are going to apply at Savannakhet use your bank account in your country, you are getting a TOURIST visa, you don't need anything from your thai wife for that

: But IF I do need to apply for a tourist visa, if for the Proof of accommodation in Thailand, for invitation letter from family/friends, is it ok for my Thai wife to write it?
Tod *********
@Jon ************
that's sure a tough way to show it, as you'll need it written and their thai i/d and house book copy too

I'd just make a reservation at a hotel that you can cancel to be honest and use that

@Tod ********
: Thanks Tod. I’ll do that about booking a hotel and canceling it after. Either or: bounce out/back or going through applying for a tourist visa, I’ll post a write up when I get back.

: Oh no. I’m planning to go next week Tuesday/Wednesday. I was just preparing if in case they don’t let me bounce out/back and then I proceed to apply for a tourist visa.
Tod *********
@Jon ************
IF you have to cross and apply for the tourist visa then you should just use the statement from your foreign bank for proof of funds
Jon *************
ORIGINAL POSTER
@Tod ********
: Ok, again thank you so much for your help Tod. I’ll do that ESPECIALLY asking before I cross over because good thing at Nakhon Phanom they questioned me before crossing over to Laos or else I would’ve been stuck in Laos if they denied me back into Thailand.

I was in Thailand on visa exemption since July last year with last on a visa exemption 30 day extension. Do you think I should still try to ask or just get a tourist visa?
Jon *************
ORIGINAL POSTER
@Tod ********
: I just forgives it out. I’ll book my flight and try to ask for visa exemption by showing my flight itinerary. If not proceed to Lao and apply for a tourist visa.

Anyway, like ALL the times you’ve helped me in the past, thank you so much for your time and help Tod. Without your help, I would’ve gotten a heart attack or gone crazy. You truly are a life saver Tod!
Tod *********
@Jon ************
that is NOT a tough border to get out and back at. Tell them you will leave in 3 months and they should let you out and right back in the same day without much drama at all

IF they don't then cross and go to apply for the tourist visa online at Savannakhet

: Thanks for the response to my message. In an earlier message I posted, you mentioned about uploading all my documents before I enter Laos. Should I use a VPN set to Laos to make my profile and upload my documents whilst still in Thailand? Or does the Thai consulate doesn’t mind you making a profile, uploading documents whilst still in Thailand and just concerned that you’re outside of Thailand to submit the application?
Tod *********
@Jon ************
you don't need a VPN, you just don't submit the application, all you're doing is starting the process,

You have to wait until you're IN Lao to upload the visa/entry stamp (proof you're in the country), and you use the hotel where you're staying as the address there
