TLDR : Answer Summary
Travelers entering Thailand may be required to show proof of 20,000 Baht in cash or its equivalent, along with other documents such as proof of onward travel and hotel bookings. While not everyone is asked for these documents, it's advisable to be prepared, as failure to provide them can result in denial of entry. Notably, there are no ATM machines before the Immigration desks, making it crucial to have cash ready upon arrival.

Perhaps the major airports should get an ATM installed airside.

The other important thing to know is that you need to show cash and there are no ATM machines available before the Immigration desks.

okay, ANYONE can be asked to show the 3 proof ofz when stamping into thailand
proof of 20K baht or the equivalent in CASH
proof of onward travel within the number of days you're stamped in for
proof of a hotel booking or confirmed lodging.
If you're asked and can't produce those things you can be denied entry.
ALSO
the fact that you, or someone you know or heard about has entered thailand a million times and not been asked does NOT mean you won't be asked. It's better to be prepared and not need to show it, than to be asked and not able to show it.
