So I am about to enter on a A-O Visa 12/13. Will I need to show the 800,000 Baht every 90 days or just annually when I renew for another year? Part 2 of the same topic, is printing an online statements enough or does it need to be a letter/statement mailed from the bank? Thanks

TLDR : Answer Summary
Upon entering Thailand with an A-O Visa, you will not need to show proof of the 800,000 Baht every 90 days. Instead, this requirement applies when applying for an annual extension of stay, where you must have maintained the funds in your bank account for at least two months prior to application. For the initial 90-day report, no proof of funds is necessary, but it is advisable to check with your specific immigration office for exact requirements as they may vary. As for bank statement proof, it is generally sufficient to provide printed online statements, though some may recommend obtaining a letter or certificate from your bank.

And we're DONE.. People stay on topic. The O/P asked if they will show proof of funds when they do their first 90 day check in and the answer to that is NO, you do not show proof of funds at that time.

They also asked about the requirements to get a year extension inside the country and most answers people posted were good answers (y) Get a bank letter showing you have 800K baht in the bank for 2 months before you apply for your extension, update your bank book etc)

BUT

the O/P is a year from needing to do that, and the best advice would be go to the immigration office you use before you apply for your extension and get the hand out listing what is required.

With OVER 70 immigration offices in the country and each one acting like it's own kingdom, that's the only way you're gonna know what's what.. Good Luck with it. (y)

I completed my extension a few days ago and they requested a bank statement & certificate which is just a letter verifying the account. Cost 300 Baht and took 1 hour at the bank.

When you do eventually get to the point where you need a year extension of stay IN country....ie....the third year, you will need 800k in your bank for 2 months or more before your application for an extension of stay, 3 months after the extension is granted, and also for the rest of the year you need to keep minimum balance of 400k.......Another option is 65k a month transfers into your account, from abroad, permitted by some Immigration offices. Fun fun.

or return to home country and get a new OA visa.

you can apply for the extension of stay ANYTIME, and the point with O/A visa right now is, go get the 1-year Extension

You will be stamped in for one year upon arrival at Bangkok.

As the OA is a multientry visa during its first year, if you leave and return to Thailand ....like border run. ..days prior to end of first year you are stamped in for one added year.

During that second year you need to buy a reentry permit to keep ending permission to stay date valid..

You only make 90 day reports.

No showing of bank balances.

If at the end of the second year you return to your home coubtrt and obtain a new OA if you wish.

Or have 800,000 Thai baht in a Thai bank account in your name two months before you apply for a one year extension of the OA

Everything depends on the health insurance. You will not be stamped longer than you proof are insured. If you have a foreign insurance, you need to go back and make a new visa. If you have a Thai insurance you will have the added year.
