I live in Thailand on a Non-B visa. Do I need to show money when re-entering Thailand? So far it has never been asked.

TLDR : Answer Summary
When re-entering Thailand on a Non-Immigrant B visa, there seems to be an informal guideline where some travelers are required to show 20,000 baht in cash. However, many expats report that they have never been asked to present this sum during their multiple entries. It's noted that the likelihood of being asked varies depending on the border crossing (e.g., Sadao border reportedly asks everyone). Preparing for this requirement is advisable, even though the chances of being asked appear low.

It depends through which border you enter. Sadao Border asks every single person

baht (in cash) from the listed countries that have to go through the office.

While there is a requirement for entering the country on Non-Immigrant Type visas I have never heard of a single person being asked.
IF you are entering on a Non-Immigrant VISA (not an extension) you can be asked to show 20K baht (or the equivalent). It would not hurt to be prepared in case you are asked.

Make sure you have it now. It gets worse nowadays. They are returning back coz of the money that you should have to show

Never happened to me in 12 yrs on a non-B and never heard of such. So chances are very low it happens.

Chance of getting asked on Non B or 1 year Extensions of Stay with re-entry permits are very small, but it could be asked.
