Can I leave Thailand without closing the loop after receiving an 'under consideration' stamp?

I know there has been lots of discussion about under consideration, but has anyone since tried leaving the country? We got letter of extension from the embassy and went straight onto the amnesty and didn’t go back to close the loop as advised by the embassy. Has anyone been fined on departure?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion revolves around whether individuals can leave Thailand after receiving an 'under consideration' stamp due to COVID-19-related travel restrictions without going back to complete the necessary immigration procedures. Experiences shared by various commenters indicate that some have successfully left the country without incurring fines or penalties, despite not finalizing their immigration status. The consensus suggests that while it might be possible to leave without repercussions, it is still advisable to follow the official procedures as instructed by the embassy and immigration authorities.

So now at least we have one confirmed report that IF you didn't go back to the immigration office to close the loop you can indeed fly out with nothing untoward happening to you..

I can't see any reason to keep this open (but if the O/P wants me to re-open it message me and I will)

I had a friend who didn’t close the loop and flew back to Canada a couple of weeks ago. No fine, no penalty. He was even told, when he was checking his bags in, that there was no problem, and that he wouldn’t be paying any fines, but that as he went through the gates to the international departure area immigration would want to talk with him. This was confirmed by a phone call. But, when he went through......nothing.

Thanx for that

IF I had to guess (which I HATE to do with visa/extension related stuff) I'd say you are not the only person who used an embassy letter to get an 'unable to travel due to covid-19" under consideration stamp who failed to go back and get the "loop closed" by getting the final stamp.

I think they wouldn't do anything IF you went to leave BEFORE amnesty ended (seeing as the overstay fines are waived and overstay penalties are waived until then too)

BUT

Again that's just a guess and I would still suggest you go back to the immigration office that issued the stamp to you and get the final stamp in the passport to complete that extension.

Yes- left the country for the United States in the beginning of June with Korean Airlines. I believe they still have a few flights a week.

Did you organise that yourself online or through the US Embassy?

We bought the tickets ourselves through Korean airlines. No different procedures than normal besides the regulations with Covid-19, such as face coverings, and a half full flight.

Gotta agree with

, do what your embassy and immigration officials tell you to do, dont leave anything to chance

My question to you is what is the reason you don't want to go back to that immigration office and 'close the loop' on that "under consideration" stamp you got from using the embassy letter stating you couldn't travel due to covid?

I don't know what would happen because you didn't follow the procedure, and so few people actually leave the country right now there is no reliable feedback.

I'd say slog on back to your immigration office and close the loop.
