Hello.

I am currently in the UK and due to fly to Thailand 21st November 2021 until 11th May 2022. My existing insurance policy runs out at the end of February but my Non O retirement visa is valid until May 2022.

My question is; Would I just need to take a new insurance certificate to immigration at the end of February to enable staying in Thailand till May.

Thanks

TLDR : Answer Summary
The individual is inquiring about the insurance requirements for staying in Thailand on a Non O retirement visa that is valid until May 2022, while their current insurance policy ends in February 2022. Community members advise that a policy covering the entire stay is necessary for immigration purposes, warning that insufficient coverage could lead to a visa stamp that ends in February. They note that new insurance rules have been implemented, and there is uncertainty regarding enforcement. Suggestions include extending the current insurance policy and confirming with the insurance provider.

Why don't you ask your insurance company to extend your policy up to your visa expiry date?

most carriers will only issue a policy up to a year,

These are unusual circumstances. Having been in insurance for 40 years, there are always exceptions

I used Emirates , flying out this week back in May. The Emirates free insurance was accepted for COE. My stamp runs out in March and I will be renewing then

The new rules only come into force today. In theory you need to have insurance cover for the length of your stay.

It’s too early to tell if this is being enforced.

They will stamp you in until February if you don't have a policy that covers your entire stay. I don't believe there any way to get the balance of that time back while you're in the country.

I fully understand I will only be stamped in until the end of February but the policy will automatically renew

then in Feb when your current entry stamp expires you go apply for a new yearly extension just like you would have done in May.

immigration doesn't care. They want to see the date and don't look at things like renewals. You'll likely need to apply for a new extension in January/February
