TLDR : Answer Summary
You can extend your 180-day DTV visa by either leaving Thailand and re-entering to receive another entry stamp or by visiting your local Immigration Office with the required documents for an extension. Many prefer the simpler option of border bouncing, which involves a quick exit and entry, often making it possible to complete the process in a single day.

You can get it extended, but lot of hassle involved, easier just to leave Thailand and re-enter and get stamped back in for another 180 days, just find a cheap return flight to a neighbouring country

You can extend your stay in two ways. 1) Simply exit and re-enter the Kingdom, no documents required to get another six month entry stamp.

2) Attend your local Immigration Office to extend your existing entry stamp by another six months. All original documentation is required plus ongoing work / soft power activity and financials.

Take the path of least resistance and simply border bounce.

Yes and no

Yes you can but you can also leave <179 days not only on the 180th

You can also go to your local immigration office and ask for an extension of 180 days

But doing a border bounce or minication or even a long vacation is the easiest route

Good luck

It's easier to leave and come back. The immagration internal process changes from office to office you can try but it's over the top paperwork required
