TLDR : Answer Summary
When entering Thailand on a 30-day visa exemption, travelers are generally advised to have 20,000 Baht in cash. However, it is known that this requirement may not be strictly enforced, and any equivalent currency is accepted. Important to note is that there are no ATMs available once you pass through immigration, so ensure you have the cash prior to boarding your flight. The likelihood of being asked for this amount is low, particularly for first-time visitors.

The chance you get asked is very very very tiny. Unless you have a long history of back to back stamps or tv entries. furthermore the rules for visa exempt entries is 10.000 baht or equivalent.

I brought cash then just exchanged it to baht when I got here, but not at the airport unless necessary because the exchange rate there wasn’t the best

Doesn’t mean she won’t be asked. Others have reported being asked before.

Cash. They don’t care what’s in your account.

Bt. 20,000 in cash, but any currency is allowed. There are no ATM's on the airside of arrivals, so you need the money before you board your flight.
